Mainframes computer are developed/designed to process large volume of input and to give large number of output. Mainframe computer are very large in size and expensive then microcomputer and minicomputer system. Mainframe computer are used by large industry for sophisticate and critical applications the large number of data to processed. Mainframes computer are used to process millions of real time processing/transactions, census, animation mostly. Mainframe is very powerful computer which is capable to serve thousands of simultaneous users at time. Mainframe computer is used in banking, insurance business where everyday massive numbers of data are processed and are to be recorded. Mainframe computer are very expensive in price so only large companies like IBM, Amdahi, Hitachi, Fujitsu etc manufactured it. Mainframes computer got high reliability availability, serviceability, security, extensive input-output facilities.
